Our Story

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (LEG) is the highest level of professional fantasy football in the world. Founded in 2004, it was formed by 12 managers out of Stoney Creek High School in Rochester, Michigan. Originally known as Skinny Linemen, it was rebranded SC Cougars in 2005, and then, parallel with its ascent to greatness, the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen in 2006.

Since its inception, the LEG has proudly been hosted by Yahoo Fantasy Sports. Today, it consists of 10 teams. It is anchored by 5 founding members and, for the last eight years, 10 stable organizations. The LEG has had three commissioners: Paul William Knapp (2004), Michael Allan Bendert (2005), and Stephen Allen Sharp (2006-Present). Primarily operating out of metro Detroit, the LEG also includes an established cheesehead, a commonwealth resident, and the most enlightened inhabitant of Macomb County.

Annually, LEG managers compete for an opportunity to drink from the Turdell, a champion’s chalice so infamous Lord Stanley’s Cup may as well be made of tin. However, while tradition and competitive excellence define them, what separates these guardians of the gridiron from the likes of Kelly Stafford is humility and general self-awareness. Despite international attention, endless sponsorship dollars, and relentless female suitors, they remain devoted to their families and committed to their second jobs. They put their pants on one LEG at a time, eat CTC for breakfast, run yellow lights, and fuck. They are extraordinary gentlemen.
